Being a Tourist in My Hometown!

I’ve spent my whole life in Florida, but I’ve never taken the opportunity to explore beyond my comfort zone. Many people might splurge on luxurious vacations without realizing that equally lavish experiences are right at home. On my days off, I go on photo walks to discover new sides of my city, often heading Downtown or to Miami Beach. I make a point of rising early to catch the beautiful sunrise at the beach or in the park.

Bringing my camera along has completely transformed how I see familiar places. Suddenly, everything becomes a potential subject. However, there’s still so much more waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. I’m familiar with nearby historic sites and attractions, like the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

Yet, I find myself sticking to my comfort zone instead of fully embracing the experience. That’s why I was eager to compile a list of five reasons to play tourist in your city.

Exploring everything your hometown, or a nearby city, has to offer can give you a fresh perspective and help you learn and grow.
